about
I HAVE BECOME UNABLE TO UPLOAD SONGS, AS OF 12/6/19, and I will stop shouting but goldernit all I had so far were mp3's!! (<---proof of geezerhood...) Can anybody help? I take directions well, and nowadays I take notes and practice...
tribute/remake of Gregg Allman's, for the love of Karen I.
Karen I. jokingly requested Whipping Post at one of my concerts. Just me on an acoustic guitar, in an Irish pub. Her holler was funny, especially considering it's become a jamming classic, sometimes lasting 45 minutes, for that one song! Karen leaned Allmans, and I leaned Dead, and I was deeply hoping she'd lean my way, in terms of abstaining from booze and self-pity. I try every day to do that (cuz it takes effort for me; I love self-pity, and ...booze, and heaps of ice cream)
So when she DID become dead a few weeks after that amusing request, I was inspired to remake Gregg's song, as a gift for Karen. She has thank me for this.
A taste of the lyrics: (full set, original & mine, below)
My friends love me, they say don't be a fool.
And I get to stand there and take it in; allow the loving through.
Drown ourselves in harmony, hold each other's hand
lyrics
Karen's Whipping Post
tribute/remake of Gregg Allman's, for the love of Karen I.
We've been run down, we've been lied to
I don't know why we think that the boogeyman is true.
It takes all our money, and it takes our truth.
We can chase our monsters, call on gods
Divinity is right where we are.
And we can let ourselves feel, let ourselves feel
That we are tied to the spirit world
TIED TO THE SPIRIT WORLD
We are tied to the spirit world
Often not seen 'til we're dying.
My friends love me, they say don't be a fool.
And I get to stand there and take it in; allow the loving through.
Drown ourselves in harmony, hold each other's hand
Don't believe the lies that separate us all
because we are one.
So let yourself feel, let yourself feel
That you are tied to the spirit world
You are tied to the spirit world
You are tied to the spirit world
Often not seen til we're dying.
Original:
I've been run down and I've been lied to.
And I don't know why, I let that mean woman make me a fool.
She took all my money, wrecks my new car.
Now she's with one of my good time buddies,
They're drinkin' in some cross-town bar.
Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
Like I've been tied to the whippin' post.
Tied to the whippin' post, tied to the whippin' post.
Good Lord, I feel like I'm dyin'
My friends tell me, that I've been such a fool.
But I had to stand by and take it baby, all for lovin' you.
Drown myself in sorrow as I look at what you've done.
But nothing seemed to change, the bad times stayed the same,
And I can't run.
Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
Like I've been tied to the whippin' post.
Tied to the whippin' post, tied to the whippin' post.
Good Lord, I feel like I'm dyin'.
